Using Copy Merged
Copy Merged
is a feature of PSP that can be used to move an image from PSP to Animation
Shop in order to be used as a frame of animation without actually merging your
layers. Personally this is a feature I use quite often when
animating. You will all learn different ways of creating animations and
determine which you prefer.
1. Open new image 450x450. Flood fill with
color of choice (I used black).
2. Go to Image>Add Borders>Symmetric Checked>25 Pixels>Choose a
color that contrasts with your fill color (I went with white).
3. Repeat step 2 using your fill color as the border color this
time. This is what you should have so far.

4. Now, add a tube of choice as a new layer. Size and place as desired, but be
sure to keep it in the center colored square. You can add a drop shadow
to your tube if you like. I didn't since I'm working with a black
background.

5. Add your text, again keeping it in the center colored square. These
are the settings I used:
![]()
6. Next, add a new raster layer and put your watermark on your image. I'm
putting mine on the outer black border. You can place yours anywhere but
on the first border as that is where our animation is going to be.

7. Now, make sure your bottom layer is the active layer and add a new rastor. Go back to the bottom layer and with your
magic wand on these settings, click inside your contrasting color border.
![]()
8. Go back to your new raster layer and flood fill the selection with a
gradient of your choice (I used a gold gradient) using the following
settings: Angle 45, Repeats 0, Style Linear, Invert
Not Checked.

9. DO NOT DESELECT your border. Add a new layer. Change your
gradient angle to 135 and flood fill again. Add another new layer.
Change gradient angle to 225 and flood fill. Add another new layer.
Change gradient angle to 315 and flood fill. You can now deslect (CTRL+D). You should now have 4 layers of
your gradient border fill.

10. Click the eye to hide the top 3 gradient layers. Go to Edit>Copy Merged.
Open Animation Shop (AS) and Paste as New Image (CTRl+V).
11. Go back to PSP. Hide the bottom gradient layer and unhide the
2nd gradient layer. Edit>Copy Merged. Go to AS and Paste After Current Frame.
12. Back to PSP. Hide the 2nd gradient layer and unhide the 3rd
one. Edit>Copy Merged. Back to AS and Paste After
Current Frame.
13. One more time, back to PSP. Hide 3rd gradient layer and unhide
top gradient layer. Edit>Copy Merged. Go to AS and Paste After Current Frame. You now have 4 frames in AS.

14. Select all 4 frames (CTRL+A). Go to Animation>Frame Properties and
set to 20. Now click on your animation preview to see your
results. It is now ready to save.
