In this lesson we will learn how to
animate just part of an image. First open the tube here(Garfield) in
Animation Shop. Then duplicate by going to Edit / Duplicate
Selected. Now you will see we have two frames exactly alike. In
Frame two with the draw tool using the black color like in Garfield's stripes
draw a slanted line across each eye, like below.
Now
choosing the flood fill tool change the color to the same as Garfield's orange
fur. and Fill in the top of the eyelid.
Now we want to slow it down a bit,
set the first frame to D: 40 and the second frame to D: 80.
Right click in each frame and choose the Frame Properties Option, change
the Display time to 40 in the first frame and 80 in the second.
Run the preview animation, and you
should have something like this.
That's great but
let's take it one step further. We are going to try to add an image
effect. Go to Effect / Insert Image Effect. There you will see a
drop down menu where you can choose different effects, for this lesson lets try
the Spiral Effect.
Using the same settings for
now. At a later time try using the other effects and chaning the settings
you can see how they differ. This effect will add 20 frames to our
animation, so it will be much larger than our first animation. Here is
what your final animation will look like. Remeber to save our new
animation as a .gif.
In this lesson you have
learned:
- Duplicating a
Frame
- Adding to an image with draw
tools
- Animating a section of an
image
- Inserting Image
Effects
Have Fun!
