In this lesson we will create a candle flame.  You will need the candle image here or one of your own.  in the first step we need to pull just the flame part out.  Taking our freehand selection tool in PSP select just the flame as below.

See where the marquise is around the candle flame?  Now copy the flame and paste as a new transparent image.  With the flame image highlighted go to Effects / Distortion Effects / Punch and use these settings.

  Strength is set at 50%.

Now go back to the candle image and make sure that the flame is deselected.  We are going to duplicate this layer.  Go to your layer palette and right click and choose Duplicate.  This will another identical layer to our image.  This layer should now be selected, if not click on the layer in the layer palette.

Going back to our flame image copy it by going to Edit / Copy or by hitting CTRL + C.
Then Pasting over the flame in our second layer, and Deselect.

Once more go to the flame image and use the punch filter again set at 50%.  Duplicate the second layer on our candle image and paste the new flame on top.  This should give
you three layers with the different sized flames.

Now save this image as a pspimage.  Go to Animation Shop and open this there.

Your three layers should now be three frames.  Run your Animation Preview and you will see your candle flame flickering!  Adjust the display time if you need to and then optimize and save your new animation.

Here is mine below, I have added glitter text to mine.

Have Fun!
