In this lesson we will be making a waving flag, You can find a copy of the American Flag here that I will be using for this lesson but you can use any flag image of your choice about the same size. Copy and paste into a new transparent image 650 x 330.

Going to the Layer Palette right click on the flag layer and duplicate it then duplicate again so you have three layers of the same flag. Close off the two upper layers.

Click on the bottom layer to activate and then go to Effects / Distortion Effects / Wave
and use the following settings, making sure the transparent button is clicked.

Next click on the middle layer and Open it again, This time we will be going to the same
Filter -  Effects / Distortion Effects / Wave and apply the following settings.

Just the Vertical displacement wavelength setting was changed to 60.  Now clicking on the top layer Open it and apply the same settings only this time the Vertical displacement wavelength setting will be changed to 65.

Now right click in the middle layer and duplicate.  Then move the layer to the top.  Now save this image as a .pspimage file or as .psp (Animation Shop) file.  Depending on your version.

Open this new file in animation shop and click on Edit / Select All  then Click on Animation / Frame Properties and adjust the setting to 40 fps.  Go to your Animation Viewer and it should look something like this.

You can resize it if you like, add text as well.

Have fun!
