Turning Pages

1. Open your book tube.  You can find one here, Shift+D to duplicate and close the original.

2.  Using your freehand selection tool, make a selection around the top right hand page.  Now, in your layers palette, right click and go to Promote Selection to Layer.

3. Deselect.  Name your single page layer right 1.  (If you are using the same book tube as I am, go ahead and merge your book back and your book pages.  These should be your bottom 2 layers.)  Duplicate the right 1 layer and go to Image>Mirror.  Name this layer Left 1 and then click on the eye to hide.  This is how your layers should now look.

4.  Duplicate the right 1 layer and name it right 2.  Make right 2 your active layer and go to your pick tool.
Using the center right node, pull the edge of the page in toward the center a little bit.

Add a drop shadow to right 2 now.  I used Vertical 1, Horizontal 3, Opacity 45, Blur 15, Black.  Duplicate right 2, Image>Mirror.  Name it Left 2 and hide this layer like before with left 1.

5.  Duplicate right 2 again.  Name this layer right 3.  Back to the pick tool and pull the edge over a little bit more.

Duplicate right 3, Image>Mirror, name it left 3 and hide.

6.  Duplicate right 3 and name it right 4.  Pull the right edge over a little more with the pick tool.

Duplicate right 4, Image>Mirror, name it left 4 and hide.

7.  Again, duplicate right 4.  Name it right 5.  Back to the pick tool and move the right edge over another bit.

Duplicate right 5, Image>Mirror, name it left 5 and hide.

8.  Duplicate right 5 and name it right 6.  Again, move the right edge over a bit.

Duplicate right 6, Image>Mirror, name it left 6 and hide.

9.  One more time, duplicate right 6 and name it right 7.  Move the right edge over a bit more.

Duplicate right 7, Image>Mirror, name it left 7 and hide.

Whew!  I know that was repetitive, but it's necessary for a smooth movement.  Now, on to AS!

10.  Copy just your book layer (this should be your very bottom layer) and paste it into AS as a new animation.

11.  Back in PSP.  Delete the bottom book layer and go to Layers>View>All.  This will unhide all your hidden page layers.  Save as a pspimage or psp animation file (depending on your version PSP).  Then, go to AS and open your new file.

12.  As you can see, my page animation has 14 frames.  You will want to go to your book animation and duplicate it until you have 1 more frame than your page animation.  So I need 15 book frames.

13.  Select All, then, holding down your CTRL key click on frame 1.  This will deselect frame 1, but leave the rest selected.  Go back over to your page animation and select all.  Go to frame one and drag it over to your book animation and line it up with the right page in frame 2.  If you don't get it lined up like you want, just click undo and try again.

14.  Click on frame one and go to Frame Properties and set to 50.  Leave the rest of the frames set to 10.  Now, view your image to check it and save.

Hope you have fun with it!
