Embellishment #2 - Candy Heart
As with the ribbon bows we made last time this is an exercise in making embellishments for your cards, scrapbooks, websites and even tags if you so desire. Because of the Valentine season coming up we are going to be making candy hearts.
In your drop down menu you will now find the new
heart shape that we just added. Starting in the upper corner click and
drag your cursor from one side to the other lower side to create your heart
shape, leaving some room for movement.
Using the Flood Fill tool choose a color (I used
pink) we need a darker value in the foreground and a light value in the
background. With the darker value fill the heart shape like below. You
will get a prompt saying that you need to change to a raster layer click
ok.
Next we are going to add another heart right over
the same heart on a new layer. This next heart will be the lighter value
of the color you chose. Click on the double arrow in the Materials Palette
next to the two color boxes. This will put our lighter color on top or in
the foreground box.
Now flood fill your new heart and move it using the
move tool
Next we need to highlight the left curve
by selecting our Pen tool
Next we are going to add a sunburst highlight along
the line of the highlight in the upper left side, go to
Now click ok and you should have a nice highlight
on the upper left side of the heart. Now we are going to add some text to
our heart. With the text tool use the darker value of your color, create
as floating, and type in the words you want to say. Next go to Effects / 3D Effects / Cutout here you want the shadow color
to be black and the fill interior color the same as the dark value, like
this.
And there you have your candy heart. Merge
all visible layers, resize as you wish and save as a tube or pspimage
or export as a png. to keep the transparency.
