Note Card Envelope
This is a lesson in layers, making a note card envelope we
will be working with layers to get the desired effect. Open a new
image 400 X 400 transparent background.
Chose a light color for the interior of the envelope and a
slightly darker color for the outline. Draw a rectangular shape on the
canvas leaving room at the top for the flap. Do not deselect the
object. This is our first layer.
New layer and draw a line with the Pen Tool (width 3)
from the left top corner of the rectangle to the a center spot at the top
of the canvas, then from that spot to the right top corner of the
rectangle.
New Layer, now draw a line from the top left corner of the
rectangle to a mid point in the middle of the rectangle and another line to
the lower left corner of the rectangle.
New Layer and do the same thing on the other side. Draw
a line from the upper right corner of the rectangle to the same center point
then down to the lower right corner of the rectangle.
Now this may seem redundant but trust me, it works best.
New Layer and draw from the lower left corner to the center point and back to
the lower right corner.
This actually puts the bottom flap on the envelope.
Our envelope is complete, but we need something to go into
it. Open a new image 300 X 300, transparent. Reverse the Colors in
our Materials Palette and draw another rectangle making sure that we have
the create on vector box checked. Click on the Object Selection Tool
(Pick Tool) and with the vector handle rotate your
rectangle to the left. Like this:
Create a new layer on the Envelope image between the base
rectangle and the flaps we added later. Paste the note into this layer.
It should now look like this.
Here you can add some text, embellishments, ribbons, stamps or
whatever.
Have Fun!
