Simple Scrapbook Tag

Tags are used on just about every scrapbook page I have seen, they are used for notations for photos, as a menu or just as a decoration.  Here is a very basic tag to use in your scrapbooking.

Open an image 300 X 400 with transparent background.  With the Shape Tool pick a color for the background and leave the foreground  null or transparent.  Now draw an elongated rectangle leaving room at the top for the tag top.  Like this:

Next use the Circle shape and draw a large circle on a new layer and move the circle to the top of the rectangle so only half of it shows.  Like this

Next with a darker color change to the foreground (outline) color box, leaving the background null, draw a circle at the top of tag.

Now using the Magic Wand Tool click in the area of the circle we just drew, click on the darker color ring.
You should have the marquee around the ring itself, inside and out.
Next go to Effects / 3D Effects / Inner Bevel and apply the bevel to the ring.  Now Merge / Merge Visible.

Then with the Magic Wand again Click inside the ring, and tap the Delete Button.  This will erase the area inside the ring.

And there is the finished tag,  add your embellishments like string, outlines, ribbons, etc.

Have Fun!
