Inserting a Picture into a
Round Tag
Creating different effects for a scrapbook page is fairly easy
with Paint Shop Pro, and giving it a more layered look can be achieved by
printing your images and cutting around the element and paste to the page like
you would any scrapbook element. But these can also be used for
digital scrapbooking which is just as much fun.
To make a round tag is fairly easy. Open a new image 300
x 300
at least 300dpi if you will be printing this.
Transparent background. Choosing a light background color (fill color) and
a darker foreground color (outline color) Draw a circle on the canvas with
the Ellipse Tool, use the circle option, create on vector and anti-alias
should be checked. Also you want to make sure that your line width is set
at 4.
Ok Next we want to give our tag
a small edge. Click on the outside color using the magic
wand tool. Just the outside edge should now be selected, shown with a
marquee around it.
Next go to Effects / 3D Effects / Inner Bevel and use these
settings. (you will be prompted to promote the layer, just click ok)
Now with the Ellipse Tool again draw a small circle
at the top of this tag, and select the outside border again with the Magic Wand
tool, going back to the Inner Bevel and same settings create a bevel around this
border.
(you will again be prompted, just click ok.)
Taking your Magic Wand Tool click inside the small circle.
Next we need to merge our layers go to Layers / Merge / Merge Visible to keep
the transparency. The marquee should still be visible just inside the the
small circle at the top, tap the delete and you should have
a tag similar to this.
Ok our tag is ready for the photo open a new
layer. Find a photo that you want to use, a close-up works best but use
your imagination. You may need to resize it down to fit
our tag. With the selection tool, change the shape to a circle in the
drop down menu. Starting in the center of our tag draw a circle inside
the tag, like this. (It may take a few attempts to get it positioned right)

Then in our Photo also draw a circle with the selection tool
around the area you want to insert into the tag.
Next copy this photo image, and going to our tag image paste (Paste into
Selection) into the circle. Deselect with CNTRL + D and you can move the
photo to fit inside the outer circle. Lower the opacity on this layer
so you can see the hole then using the Selection Tool again in circle shape
Select the area around our tag hole and tap the delete button. (My Model
by the way is my Granddaughter, Kennady)

If you have trouble with that use the eraser tool to clear the hole. Now
raise the opacity again and you are done, add a string or ribbon or
whatever you like.
Have fun!
