Brads, Grommets and Eyelets

Grommets and Eyelets are used quite often in scrapbooking.  They are used to give a more 3D look to your pages.  They are fairly easy to make and you can make them in just about any color or shape.

To make a basic grommet or eyelet start by opening a transparent image 300 x 300.  Using the the Preset Shape Tool in round shape, Your chosen color in Foreground and Null in the background.  Create a round shape on your image using a width of 35 and anti-alias turned on.

Next click on the outline of the circle with your Magic Wand, the inside and and outside of the circle should now be selected with a marquee.

Now we want to give it a bevel with Effects / 3D Effects / Inner Bevel and use these settings.

Resize, your grommet and place on your chosen background.  Use a drop shadow to make it look more real.

You would do the same for an Eyelet, make your circle line a little larger, say around 46 pixels, using a metallic gradient instead of a solid color.  Apply the same bevel and a slight drop shadow and here is your eyelet.

You can brads in the same way as well, take your shape and using the background (fill) color, apply the bevel and drop shadow and you get something like this!

Have fun with it,  let's see some different shapes!
