Lesson 14 - Text on a
Curve
This is an advanced Class, but should
be simple enough for anyone who has completed Beginner classes 1-4. As always
the instructions are for PSP 9 and changes for PSP XI in
Blue.
Open a new image 400 X 100, transparent
background.
Click on your draw tool
(Pen tool) Set the foreground color
to black and background color to transparent or (null).
Depending on which version you use, the settings will look a
little different but you will be able to make these adjustments. Choose
the FreeHand option, Set Width to 2, make sure the AntiAlias button is checked
and the Create on a Vector is also checked. See Above:
Now draw a curving line in the image like this:
Now change your foreground color to
transparent and the background color to one of your choice, I will use red for
this example. Chose your Text Tool
then move your cursor over the wavy line you have just drawn
until the cursor changes into an "A" with a smile under it.
when you see the smiling A click once. Your text box will
open and now you can add any text you like
using a font of your choice. Make sure that you have
create on a Vector (Create as Vector) clicked as well
as anti-alias (smooth) box clicked.
Your text should be following the curved line as in the
picture above. To remove the drawn line go to the layer palette on the
right of you workspace. (Find the line layer and click on
eye icon next to it)
Click on the + next to upper layer, you will have two
sublayers, one will be the curved path, the other text we wrote. Click on
the eye icon next to the curved path, the line appears to be gone, it is
actually still there until we merge the layers, so go to Layers / Merge / Merge Visible (which allows for the
transparency) and all that will be left is the curvy text. See
Below:
Here is my final image.
Have Fun!
